Christmas raid on power cut hit Hampshire home

Burglars stole a large amount of valuable jewellery from a house in the Western Wards on Christmas night that had been left by its owners after a power cut.

The owners went out at 4.30pm on Christmas Day and the burglars had struck by the time they returned to their home in Burridge Road, Burridge, at 9am on Boxing Day.

The thieves forced their way into the house at the back of the property.

Around 70 items of jewellery were removed from the address. The total value is unknown because some of the items had been inherited although many items were worth in excess of £100.

PC Tara Magnus of Hampshire Constabulary said: “Did you notice any suspicious activity in this area overnight on Christmas Day or have you been offered any items of jewellery for sale in the past week?”

Anyone with information should contact PC Magnus on 101. Alternatively call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111
