Warsash woman killed in car crash

A 64-year-old woman who died when her car left the road and crashed into a tree in East Sussex yesterday afternoon was from Warsash.

Jean Beames, 64, of Oakwood Close, was the only occupant of a silver Ford Mondeo car when it left Wadhurst Road in Frant, near Tonbridge Wells,  about 200 metres from the junction with the A267, and collided with a tree.

Mrs Beames was freed from the car by firefighters and was attended to by paramedics, but Sussex Police said it was believed she had died on impact.

The B2099 was closed while the incident was investigated but was opened again by 6pm.

PC Shirley Ross of the Sussex Road Policing Unit said; “Anyone who saw what happened is asked to call us on 101 or email  quoting Operation Contrast.”
