Volunteers needed in rainforest fundraiser
Volunteers are being sought to help save tropical rainforests across the world with a fundraising effort at Tesco stores at Whiteley or Bursledon.
Tesco and the RSPB’s joint partnership fundraiser ‘Together for Trees’ are appealing for voluntary bucket collectors at stores across Hampshire, including those in the Western Wards.
Anyone can also help the cause by donating at the participating Tesco supermarkets – which excludes Express stores – on September 21 and 22.
There are more than 110 participating stores across the south east and the RSPB is looking for 600 volunteers.
Nic Willett, Senior Community Fundraiser for RSPB South East, said: “This is a very exciting opportunity for the RSPB and a new way for us to raise awareness of the partnership and a significant amount of money to support our rainforest work.
“You don’t need any special knowledge to take part in one of our bucket collections – just a winning smile.”
Tropical forests are home for at least six million different species, including some of the world’s most enigmatic and endangered wildlife. They provide food, water and medicines, and act as carbon stores to help in the fight against climate change.
